Dear Readers,
Thank you for visiting Immaculate Heart of Mary School’s new Web site. We plan to use this site to share with you our favorite quotes and give you a glimpse of our school life. While we share the universal Catholic view on education and its importance, we have our own school of thought, giving us a uniqueness among educators.
What is this school of thought? It is that of our Congregation (the Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary) at Saint Benedict Center, New Hampshire: philosphia perennis (scholastic philosophy as enunciated by Saint Thomas Aquinas), with an emphasis on the defense of dogma Extra ecclesiam nulla salus (the necessity of the Church for salvation).
Philosophy is the handmaid of Theology (philosophia ancilla theologiae), the science of wisdom, which science must underlie everything we do. It teaches us to appreciate, to savor, everything in this world – and the next. Grace builds on nature.
At Immaculate Heart of Mary School, the members of our faculty study philosophia perennis under Brother Francis, M.I.C.M. (through his tapes, books, and disciples), so that we can pass this love of wisdom on to our students in all their subjects. We invite you to join us in this appreciation!
May Our Lady bless you with Her Holy Child!
In Her Immaculate Heart,
The Sisters of the Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary
