Mother and Child

 

The Christmas Program this year was simple (due to our extra duties with Sister Mary Bernadette’s declining health) — but very lovely. The elementary students (grade k-6) put on a pageant focusing on the shepherd and the gift that Our Infant Lord desires (our hearts!). The junior and senior high school students played several complicated (three-part) Christmas carols. Click the link for pictures. Oh - to be a clown!

At the End of the Year Performance (this year on June 12), every class puts on a little demonstration of what they learned during the past year. Bring flowers of the fairest; bring flowers of the rarest . . .

The May Procession is an important highlight of our school (and community) year. The event allows us to honor our heavenly Mother is a special way, and the procession is the impetus for us to get the grounds cleaned up after the winter storms. The Sisters beg the flowers from vendors of a flower market and the girls come to help them make crowns and bouquets.

The sedia is ready to be carried (after Our Lady is crowned). The statue is one of two Pilgrim Virgins in our care. Hailey and Lucia get ready for the first crowning. Our May 22 school concert in Lexington, MA, went really well. The students performed for a little over an hour with music, singing, dancing, acting, and a few memory items. The audience was enchanted! We hope to have a DVD of the performance available soon. For now, enjoy the pictures.

From our 2007 concert

Immaculate Heart of Mary School students (officially: the Blueberry Jammers and the Future Famous Fiddlers) are putting on an hour’s entertainment at the National Heritage Museum in Lexington, Massachusetts, on Sunday, May 22, at 3pm. With fiddling, dancing, singing, and acting, an audience of all ages is sure to have smiles on their faces. The performance will be in the Museum Auditorium. Just come in the front door (ignore the closed signs and look for Sisters in habits and children in uniforms!).

A St. Patrick's Day Skit

On the Sunday closest to the feasts of Saint Patrick (March 17) and Saint Joseph (March 19) we hold one of our annual entertainments (programs). These variety shows, which always rely heavily on the school children, are videotaped and available on DVD through the Saint Benedict Center Bookstore. Here are pictures of this year’s (well, this past Christmas’, anyway) simple but lovely Christmas Program. Step back into the past with a one-of-a-kind, old-fashioned family festival: the eighth annual Blueberry Fiddle Festival, organized by Richmond’s Immaculate Heart of Mary School. Admission is FREE; parking is a one-time $5. Enjoy live music and delicious food, browse the craft vendors (it’s a good time to think about presents for this coming year), run a sack race, participate in an original New England melodrama, cheer for your favorite fiddler (the contestants are judged partially on audience response!), and join us for a family contra dance.  Lots of fun for all ages!
